Our Membership

If the Bible is the foundation of our church, then membership is the cement that holds us all together. Both Christ and His Apostles command us to commit to one another for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through a four-step process:

Step 1 | Membership Class – All prospective members must attend our three-part class:

  1. We Believe (Statement of Faith)

  2. We Commit (Church Covenant)

  3. We Fulfill (Discipleship, Evangelism, Missions)

Upon completing the three-part class, one is able, though not obligated, to schedule a membership interview.

Step 2 | Membership Interview – In a 45-minute meeting, the prospective member meets with an elder to provide basic information, share his or her testimony, and clearly articulate the Gospel. The individual would then sign NCBC’s Statement of Faith and Church Covenant, and the application then goes to the elders.

Step 3 | Elder Recommendation* – At a regularly scheduled elders’ meeting, elders review the information of the prospective member. Upon receiving collective approval, the individual is recommended to the congregation for membership at the next Members’ Meeting.

Step 4 | Congregational Affirmation* – During our regular Members Meetings (every other month), pastors share the prospective member’s testimony with the congregation. The congregation has the opportunity to ask questions before they vote on the individual. If a majority vote is attained, the individual being considered is admitted into the membership of New Covenant Baptist Church.
